One futurist in the United States is very closely watching Venezuela make mistakes and predicts the complete collapse and economic implosion of the Communist Nation State of Venezuela. But how could that happen, as Venezuela is rich in oil you ask? Well easily really, you see Venezuela has a state run oil company, which is highly inefficient and their production is down by nearly 50% and Hugo Chavez is not minding the store but rather jet setting around the World talking to third world dictators.

What else has happened? Well the Venezuela Government has promised more than it can give in support to local trading partners, while upsetting the United States of America. They have also over promised what they can deliver to the Venezuelan people and soon they will not have the money to pay for it. Oil prices also have come down and if they remain under $50 a barrel Venezuela’s oil will not be worth enough on the open market to fund all their ambitions.

Additionally, there are other people in the Venezuelan government who are pretty high up, which are just waiting for Hugo Ch?vez to make a big mistake and they will take over. During the change management crisis and the economy failures Venezuela may be in a situation that they cannot get out of. As things come together and the future presses on Venezuela and their relationship with Iran will also severely hurt them and this is why the futurist, me, believes that Venezuela’s economy will implode.

Dress for Success:

Few clothing accessories denote style and luxury as a silk tie. Silk Ties add a special sheen to a mans suit and provide both visual interest and personal expression. Other materials are used in the manufacturing of ties but silk has a built in cache of expense and glamour. Richer dyes are often used to colour ties, and fashion experts often coordinate tailored suits with boldly coloured silk ties for effect.

Business fashion experts say the choice of tie can reflect the wearers personality. Silk ties are produced in very bold colour schemes and patterns which imply power or security. These ties can also be coordinated with dress shirts to give the impression of organisation and personal neatness.

Silk can be printed or woven. Woven silk tends to be thicker and you will often see a fabric weave running through it.

How to clean a Silk Tie:

Act immediately

Resist the temptation to expose a silk tie to water
Use a white paper towel to dab a small amount of stain remover onto the stain
Blot with the paper towel.
Have the tie professionally dry-cleaned if you haven’t gotten rid of the stain.

Care and Storage:

Treat your ties with a specialised fabric protection spray before wearing them.

Avoid tie-threatening situations such as open soup bowls, ketchup or mustard packets and babies.
Loosely roll ties to store them, rather than hanging them. Tie rolls should be loose to avoid wrinkling, hanging ties can leave creases.

Buying the Right Tie:

First need a quality tie made up of 100% pure silk. It is generally suggested that you should wear a plain coloured non-distracting tie with your suit e.g. in dark red or dark blue colour.
A crooked tie projects a sloppy look and says the same about the skills and abilities. It’s important to focus on the tie knot as well.

Conclusion:

Buy a quality conservative 100% pure silk tie.
Practice how to tie the four in hand tie knot and make sure that the ties widest end is roughly at the upper edge of your belt.
Use a tie bar to attach your tie to your dress shirt.

Wearing a quality silk tie properly tied and fastened is probably the fastest way to improve the overall appearance.

Storm windows come in a variety of styles and colors to match most home
applications. Triple track, combination windows and screen storm windows are designed for installation over double hung windows.

Style variations include sliding window, double-hung, half-screen, and full-screen
and picture windows. Finishes include mill-finished aluminum, white, brown, and
almond.

They are permanently installed and can be opened any time with a screen slid into
place for ventilation.

Measure your existing window to determine the size of storm windows to order.
First, measure the width of the inside of your window jamb at the top, middle and
bottom. Then measure the height at the right, Center and left sides.

Double track combination units are also available and they cost less. Both kinds are
sold almost everywhere, and can be bought with or without the cost of installation.

Most suppliers will order to the closest 1/8″, so give exact measurements when
ordering. It’s better to be a little too small than too big when ordering storm
windows. You can save a few dollars 15% to 20% of the purchase price by installing
storm windows yourself.

Once your storm windows have arrived, test-fit them to make sure they’re the right
size. But you’ll need some tools: caulking gun, drill, and screwdriver. In most cases
it will be easier to have the supplier install your storm windows for you, although it
will cost more.

Apply a thin bead of caulk to the outer edges of the window stop at the top and
sides. Distribute the caulk as evenly as possible. Do not caulk the bottom of the
storm window. You’ll want to allow room for rain and moisture to run off the sill. It
will take anywhere from several days to a few weeks to make up your order before
the supplier returns to install them.

Insert the storm window into the opening. Make sure to center the window between
the side stops. It’s best to set the window tight against the sill so that the window
has ample support. Installation should take less than one day, depending on how
many windows are involved.

Two very important items should be checked to make sure the installation is
properly done. Most windows are predrilled. If this is not the case, drill holes 12″
apart and centered over the window stops. Make sure that both the window sashes
and screen sash move smoothly and seal tightly when closed after installation.

There are also some excellent online courses available and some of them are free, just type ?Photography free online courses? into your search engine. Morguefile is an example they offer sound technical advice on a variety of subjects, as well as aspects of types of photography, it is a good point to start with, showing the resources Jodie Coston, a freelance photographer, has made available online, after a series of classes she gave. The New York Institute of Photography offers an online course over a period of about eight months, with a few hours work a day at your own pace, they offer courses in Photography and digital photography.

Whilst they state they have been teaching photography for a hundred years, they do not quote their prices online, you have to contact them direct. They offer the information that most of their students are mature. Photo seminars offer a free workshop and a free lesson, so that you may you may evaluate the course before you buy. The enrolment cost is 39.00. U.S. dollars. They also offer links and resources. Better Photos, also offer a wide range of courses at different prices, with differing lengths, the subjects are either technical or cover ?How to take more dramatic photographs?. For these courses you need to transfer the photographic assignment you were given to a web page on their site, so you need access to a computer.

There are times when the free courses cannot teach you any more and you have to pay for further knowledge. There are excellent resources in the forms of e books that give you invaluable practical information.

If you are just starting digital photography, you will find that you need skills that are not covered in analog photography. You will need to learn how to use an editor Adobe Photoshop, which is the industry standard for desktop imaging. Whilst Adobe produce their own official training manual?s, they are not the easiest resource for total beginner?s (my apologies to the author, but they are hard), there are on line courses available at Beren Patterson is a professional photographer who offers free online courses at his Sister site tribalcog, most of his work is in the travel area, but he has interesting tips about telling a story with your photographs.

There are excellent resources for the committed photographer, as well as the passionate hobbyist offered by the Kansas public Library, they offer galleries, informative articles, history resources, and general photographic resources. It is a very easy place to lose yourself for a couple of days; it is certainly worth more than a cursory glance. As well as on- line courses there are excellent resources available to the photographer.

There are several sites for the professional photographer. The American Society of picture professionals is an association of professional who sell photographs overseas and at home. They have four types of members, and their fees range from 25.00 to 100 U.S. dollars. The American site of Media Photographers, have three aims. To protect and promote the interests of photographers whose work is for publication, to promote professional standards and ethics, as well as the promotion of friendship between photographers. They also have several classes of membership, as well as buying and selling photographs. The National Press Photographers Association has available some interesting free reports, and you do not have to be a member to read them.

There are an assortment of lessons both free, and paid for and also those available only to member?s at the Web Photoschool, they offer a tour around their site, so you can familiarise yourself with its feel. The lessons cover all levels of experience from beginner?s to professionals.

The Epsom Online Experience offers a unique and innovative course, for the digital photographer. For $29.95 you will receive five new video lessons per week for 12 weeks. It is run by professional photographers, Greg Gorman, Jay Maisel, and Bruce Dale.

Not only are their online courses available, but also for those who need to brush on specific techniques, such as marketing – there are electronic books (e-books) available, most of these are written by professional photographer?s already making money in a competitive market.

Spanish-English translators have a great tool in the Internet. Research and collaboration with other translators that previously took days and months can be had in a matter of minutes.

Instead of translators having to search through countless paper dictionaries or call numerous colleuges over the phone to find an unknown or unclear definition, they can simply boot up their computers and search the Internet to find an adequate definition.

One of the hard things about the Internet, though, is that there literally hundreds of millions of websites with more and more being added every day. With so many web pages available, it can be extremely difficult to find the information you are looking for. Because of that, the best thing for translators to do is put together a list of websites helpful to them.

Bilingual government pages, online dictionaries, and themed glossaries are some of the websites you should have on that list. In addition to these, however, you should make sure to include Spanish English forums. These forums can be a treasure-trove of information that can be invaluable to your translation work.

At these Spanish-English translation websites, you can post any questions you have regarding a translation you are working on and someone will inevitably get back to you within a pretty short time. The reason is because many translators frequent these forums and are interested in helping other translators.

However, these forums are not just places where you should visit and ask questions without answering anybody else’s. After getting your question answered, you should be sure to give back and help out others who have questions to ask. The great thing about the Internet is that people can help each other while making a winning situation for both sides.

So now that you’re aware of how these Spanish-English translation can help translators, the next step is finding the best ones among the hundreds of millions of web pages online.

Well, during my time as a translator, I’ve run across a couple of forum websites that are excellent resources for translators.

1) forum.wordreference.com: This is probably the most active Spanish-English translation forum on the Internet (and it’s got more than just Spanish and English issues). It’s a great place to go if you need help with any aspect of language. Those who frequent the forums located here are more than willing to offer advice and help so be prepared to receive more than a single answer to your question. If you’ve got something you’re working on and you need help, make sure you search their archives first because there is a good chance it’s already been answered.

2)spanish.about.com/mpboards.htm: This is a decent forum that receives a good amount of visitors, even though not nearly as much as wordreferece.org. Because not as many people use the forums here, it might take a little while longer to get your question answered, but the answers are usually good so it is a good place to post if you can’t find the answer anywhere else.

There are many other great forums available for both learning Spanish and getting help on translations. Whether you visit the two mentioned above or find your own, these forums are a great resource for translators and a great way to get answers to questions that you might run into during your work.

On August 29, 2005, I lost about 90% of my writing and writing-related items to a natural disaster. As a resident of New Orleans, I learned to be prepared for hurricanes over the years, but had failed to adequately prepare so that I could have salvaged at least some of my writing and writing related items. I lost a thick file of story ideas I had been collecting before I had even began to learn the rules and elements of fiction writing. I lost countless hard and soft copies of stories in progress, along with the earliest stories I had attempted when I first began to try my pen at fiction writing. Poems, rejection letters, acceptance letters, character biographies, and hand written journals were all lost to flood water.

Now, a year and two months after Hurricane Katrina and the levee breaches, I am better prepared to save the writing I have done since. If you are not already protecting your writing in case of a natural, or otherwise, disaster, then here are a few suggestions you might want to consider.

1. Create Back Up Copies

Try to have at least one additional copy of all of your stories, poems, articles, etc. Create back up copies by using such storage devices like flash drives, rewritable compact discs, and floppy disks, if possible. Consider creating hard copies, or printed copies, of your writing.

2. Choose How You Will Store Your Writing

Consider how you might prefer to store those back up copies you have created. Your choices can include briefcases, hand held file cases, small plastic containers the size of shoe boxes, and small fire and water proof safes. Also try to be sure to return compact discs and floppy disks into their jewel cases. This will help make it easy to store the compact discs and floppy disks into the larger storage containers you have chosen.

3. Choose Where You Will Store Your Writing

Consider choosing a central place where you would prefer to store the larger containers holding your compact discs, floppy disks, and flash drives. Try to pick a spot where you will keep the things you might be able to grab in a hurry, and a spot that you think will be safe for what you may have to leave behind. For example, I now store some of my hard copies in a hand held file case that I keep on the floor of my closet so I could grab the case in a hurry. Storage containers that I might have to leave are kept higher on closet shelves and taller bookcase shelves.

4. Have a Plan

Besides having an evacuation plan or an escape route, you might want to consider planning ahead about what you would prefer to take, especially if you are forced to leave your home in a hurry. Would you rather grab your hand written journals, copies of your most recent writing, or the writing you consider most important at the time? Of course, if you are able to evacuate ahead of time, then there is a chance you could take all of your writing along with you.

Although there is the possibility that I won’t face any disasters in the future, I am at least comforted knowing that I have taken better precautions. And while I still might be unable to save all of my writing and writing-related items when, or if, the next disaster strikes, I am better prepared so that I may be able to save some of my writing. Above all, however, is that we work to save our lives in case of disasters. I hope that you won’t ever have to set your own disaster plans in motion, but also that you will consider utilizing the suggestions I have made. Happy writing and stay safe!

I arose early that day. The tea kettle was full so I just turned on the burner to heat it up for coffee. As usual I checked the temperature outside. I shivered when I looked, minus 40-degrees. The sky was bright blue, the trees were frosty and the snow was about a foot deep. I figured it must have gotten cold because the lake was grumbling all night. It made a lot of noise when the ice was getting thicker.

Coffee was ready so I poured a cup and sipped it slowly as I admired the beautiful artwork on my windows. Mother nature had etched the most intricate floral designs all over them. There was never two alike. I was treated to a different art show every morning in winter. If I watched closely I could see the design forming and I knew it was getting even colder. It was a day to put something in the oven.

I took out my cast iron dutch oven, diced up a bit of bacon and fried it until it was crispy. I added two medium thinly sliced onions and several cloves of minced garlic. While that was cooking I dredged short ribs in flour seasoned with salt and pepper. I browned them well on all sides. I poured another cup of coffee and continued admiring my windows. The short ribs were browned and it was time to add tomatoes and beef stock along with freshly grated nutmeg. It was almost ready for the oven.

I had canned tomatoes but my homemade stock supply was depleted. I would have to use water. I turned on the faucet. Nothing happened. I tried the faucet in the bathroom. Nothing happened. I was beginning not to like nature. At that moment I did not care about my pretty windows, I needed water. I could not thaw frozen pipes and I was not going to wait until my husband came home.

I looked in the refrigerator but all I found was orange juice and milk. I thought I could melt ice cubes. They were gone also. I had used all the water in the tea kettle for coffee. I was getting furious with nature. Then I remember seeing a few cans of beer in the refrigerator so I opened two of them and put them into my short ribs and into the oven they went. Those short ribs turned out to be the best I had ever made. My husband did not mind that he had no beer after work that day and I appreciated nature again.

VoIP services are making waves throughout the business world. You may be curious to find out what all the hype is about. VoIP is new telecommunication services that allow you to send and receive phone calls via the internet rather than using a traditional phone line. The system has been widely marketed in the business sector. It is becoming increasingly popular in homes as well, replacing regular phone services.

Your VoIP services are based on computer-to-computer calling. People are choosing to change to VoIP from their regular phone service because of the quality enhancement of the product. Local calls, long distance calls, and even International calls come in very clear. The higher the speed of your internet service, the clearer your calls will be. At least 64 Kbps are required. A bandwidth of 128 Kbps will provide you with top of the line service results. Your VoIP provider can assist you with determining your Kbps as well as recommend any updates that might provide you with better service.

Some are skeptical to use the VoIP system because they are worried about the reliability of the system. In the past, if the power went out, then the system wouldn?t work. I can definitely see why that would be a concern. In a time of emergency, you need to feel comfortable knowing you have phone access to call for help

The solution to that problem is the introduction of a smart system. This system is a tool used to redirects phone calls to a different number, if the system detects your phone system is not responding. Incoming calls will be transferred to your required alternative during such occasions.

Other than the quality of the product, the price is a big seller. You can choose the options you want to use including caller ID, call waiting, and call forwarding. Types of plans include basic service, best value, unlimited access, and business plans. There are no long distance charges. This means you can make out of town and International calls at no additional cost. This alone is a great selling point, especially for businesses that often end up with huge phone bills on a monthly basis. For those wanting to maintain a budget, knowing how much your phone bill will be on a monthly basis is an added bonus. In addition, the cost of VoIP with all the features and long distance access is cheaper than most people were already paying for regular home phone services.

The Internet is a valuable resource for finding a VoIP provider in your area. There are several good information sites. You can get specific questions answered, review the types of plans, and look at the phone styles available. If the trend continues, then VoIP may soon replace home phone service plans worldwide. Look out, there is another huge technological change for most of us on the horizon!

Hallmarking began somewhere back in the thirteenth century most likely in France. Its purpose was to test coins made of silver and gold so that the correct amount of precious metal was actually in the item. It was the original consumer protection law.

In England in 1327 it became law that if you were selling an item made of precious metal it had to be tested. Manufacturers were compelled to take their articles to the hall where the Assay Master would test the precious metal content. Once it passed the test then he stamped the item with marks indicating the fineness or content of the precious metal and eventually other stamps were added such as a date, maker and the assay office mark.
So the term hallmarking came into existence.

Right up until 1773 if you tried to dupe your customers by counterfeiting the hallmark stamps the offence was punishable by death. Thank God it was then changed to just the offender being sent off to one of the penal colonies for a mere 14 years! Today in the UK it is just 10 years in the clink.

So what do these marks look like?

The marks tell three basic things: the maker (or his sponsor if he is not available), the fineness or amount or percentage of precious metal in the item and the assay office where it was tested. The maker will have his own particular stamp in letters, the fineness will be a number such as 925, and the assay office?s mark will be a symbol such as the current Birmingham office?s mark which is an anchor. There are other non compulsory marks as well.

Over the centuries these marks have changed significantly and that?s a great thing for dating antique jewellery and watches. For instance, when a certain mark was used for the year then we can accurately date the time an item may have been made. When marks changed along the way that helps us quickly identify the general period of manufacture.

Does Jewellery need to be assayed today?
Legally in the UK and some European countries it certainly does. Some other countries allow a self regulation to take place.
Other countries which do not consider themselves as major producers have no requirement. The stamp such as 925 on silver jewellery is not hallmarking. So in Australia you will see 9 carat or 925 stamped on a silver ring but this is an indication that the manufacturer claims the correct content of precious metal has been included but this is not hallmarking which takes place in the UK.

What does it mean to you the purchaser of an 18 carat engagement ring?
Well, if the manufacturer has cheated you and your ring is only 95% precious metal then you would never know. It is so minute an amount that you would not perceive it. The only way you, as a layman, will ever be able to tell is by comparing the ring to another piece of 18 carat gold jewellery. However, if a large manufacturer on the world stage saves a fraction of gold on every item then that would be an enormous profit saving at the end of the year. So while this law is there to protect you do you really care? The manufacturer has to get the item to an assay office, insure its delivery, wait a few days to get it back and then pay for the service. So who is really going to pay for all this? You of course!

There was a list of funny ways to save money on a “frugal living” website. They weren’t necessarily meant to be funny, but were gleaned from real suggestions sent in. Some cheapskates don’t seem to notice that an extra hour at work might put them further ahead than many hours of penny-pinching.

The following are real suggestions, and then there are some funny ways to save money that you really shouldn’t try.

Funny Ways To Save Money – The Real Suggestions

One person suggested ways to save money on weddings that included picking up the leftover flowers at a cemetery. I’m not sue how you can tell which are “leftovers.”

Another creative penny pincher found a way to save money on a car wash. He washed his entire car using the squeegee at the gas station.

A woman confessed that she has the kids stuff their pockets with the free ketchup, salt and other condiment packets every time they were in a fast food restaurant. That’s not all, though. She actually had the kids squeeze ketchup and mustard from the packets into regular jars of ketchup and mustard, and claims she hasn’t bought these condiments in years.

To save money on an umbrella, one man suggests going to the lost and found department of any large public library. Tell them you lost a black umbrella. They will have several, from which you can pick the best one and claim it as your own.

Call people long-distance when you know they won’t be home. Leave a message for them to call. That way, they pay for the long-distance call.

Funny Ways To Save Money – Don’t Try This At Home

Don’t pay baby sitters! Get young couples who are thinking about having kids to “rent” yours for the evening. They get to see what it will be like, and you can get paid instead of paying for sitters.

Turn off the TV and all the lights to save electricity. Tell the kids it’s a game of hide-and-seek.

Train your dog to beg for food from strangers, so you won’t have to buy dog food.

Rub pine needles under your arms instead of buying deodorant.

Take extra napkins from fast food restaurants to save on toilet paper.

Borrow your neighbors toothbrush instead of buying your own.

If I write a book on ways to save money, funny or not, will I make much in sales, or will everyone take my suggestion and borrow it from the library instead of buying it?

Steve Gillman has studied unusual ways to make money for thirty years.
